I have been reading "Deep Work" by Cal Newport (for my future Video Editing career) and I just finished reading the third rule of the book, which was basically telling people to refrain themselves from using social media. Now, what Cal exactly describes this not in a radical way; rather tells people to (out of my own keypoints) to limit their use for high-priority use and refrain from using entertainment media, or atleast plan out your tasks.

Here are my thoughts on implementing this with finobe.net:

  1. I came here to be a valuable user... in an obscure enough, low-valued community which can rapture any possible day. Additionally, I currently do not have any friends who live in the same region, or even country. A worldwide platform, like finobe.net, has little to no chances of solving it.
  2. Isn't finobe.net's task to entertain? I mean, Video Editing is what brings me a lot of fun, not to mention that on a purest form. As well as I am not supposed to use finobe.net, and if my parents catch me do it... That would not bring fun, but doom instead.

With this said, it's better to take a break from finobe.net (though I was only there for a few weeks). I might still check up in rare occassions, but only if this place will still be in good sailing. I still remain my promise on the identity reveal (while I may have gave a massive hint for former Finobe players).

This isn't a farewell, but more of a hiatus.

Thank you, Osha!

While I am here, I will give a quick update:

I finished reading the book yesterday and everything still remains mostly the same after the final rule which Cal reminds that this book did not mean to fully exclude low-priority tasks. I forgot about that, but I still stand my point as a minimization of tasks, because why getting more foreign friends, if I am happy with my current ones?

If you see me be online, it's only to collect the silly Dius and call it a day. I log in through Incognito Mode so it won't memorize so I would have the time turn off the Autopilot mind.

Anyways, logging off now.

I may recieve backlash for this, but let me explain:

I had some afterthoughts from my own post about the book, thinking if I was supposed to be doing such a radical move or I may have misunderstood it. It is called "Deep Work" and not "Eliminating Shallow Work" for a reason, after all. As it turns out, Cal Newport did focus more on the value of people's time, than minimizing tasks. If I got it right, then not enabling "Remember Me" on login has been already a good enough timesaver. As well, Newport did say to not have more than 3 shallow works. I would have exactly 3, if I would include finobe.net as one of them.

As I am not realizing my career for now, I am going to continue involving in the Forums, but I won't likely reply to everything unless it is indeed worth my time. However, once I get into it, I may involve way less then. I apologize if you regret giving the respects to me.

...for now.

I am only using finobe.net right now mostly to kill time out of boredom (when there are things to do, ironically). When the ball starts to roll, I am considering to move on to prioritize better things.

I am also thinking to move away from finobe.net to an Art community, as that feels more healthier and worth my time than just chit-chatting and doing absolutely nothing (and finobe.net does not fit to the sillypost-charmed history that I had before). Once I get the needed pens, I will try to be locked onto preparing for it.

A proposal like this from an interesting user like you is quite touching. I could see myself actually staying in this revival, if it would end up happening (but I do debate on it a little). However, there are some caveats:

  1. I don't have the history yet. I am already imagining the Admin or Mod applications to be like "Oh, you did not involve that much in finobe.net? You can kiss our beautiful bird right here!", if the QA testing is already like this (as well as it requires Discord, which my parents are preventing me to use. But I hope to solve that).
  2. I am not in that scenario to handle finobe.net right now. You can read my "About The Problems in My Life" thread about this.
  3. Handling finobe.net is like being a lifeguard in a ernormous, luxury waterpark heavily not following and ignoring the OSHA complaints. While handling the Art Community that I wanna join is like being an Office Manager at Microsoft.

But because of your feedback, I will consider giving more time to finobe.net after I resolve everything. If it does not work out, then I am sorry about it.
