While, with all honestly, I highly respect your points you often make, here are my five cents on voting posts (in case if we will debate on it on finobe.net, too):

1. In terms of showing achievements and the preferness of replying to help users, I heavily agree and find this an undebatable point. But the whole reason why there are a significant amount of downvotes is not because of abuse, but to rather show that the main post does not belong here due to disinformation. Either way, as long as voting can be handled to be kept natural (e.g. Alt Account Prevention), it is a wonderful tool for not only granting positive reputation, but also for clarifying the belonging of the post/user (Honestly, if we are supposed to only do the former, downvoting should be disabled).
2. I have actually downvoted madstingray not only because of disinformation (he did later clarify that he was incorrect, but he ended up making his post mostly meaningless), but also because he's lacking respect to others and as shown in the recent Russian posts, he also disrespects users speaking foreign languages (Rule 6). You could say "But you can just guide him!", but in terms of him, it does not work at all. Listen, back in the "Do you think that finobe.net could save the ORC?" forum post, I tried to single-handedly recommend him to respect others and be kind, but he continued to disrespect others no matter what! The worst thing is that there were still no moderation actions to him regarding Rule 6! Why is that?

That is true (which is surprising from you), but that's hypocritical from you because you disrespect constructive opinions (which are factually better, because they are more justifiable than just one or two sentences) simply due to their character length.

As of abusement, I think original Finobe handled it fine enough with 100,000+ users? I may be wrong here, due to the fact that jamrio said that there were conflicts before. But I guess that "before" were the early stages.
